Hola amigos,
Greetings from a resort in El Salvador!
It’s finally here.
Bitcoin Week.
And my list of personal updates is insane:
My vision-turned-reality got a shoutout in FORBES
My first talk at a Bitcoin Conference went well today
Saifedean on (11 time Rogan guest) Dave Smith’s show just dropped today
Guy Swann on Spaces With Josie is tonight
I also met Stacy Herbert yesterday btw
And the Conference I’m organizing is in 3 days…
I’m at the Halving Party.
The third/final day at a beautiful resort… over 500 Bitcoiners from around the world, partying together, influencers and plebs alike.
It’s been unbelievable.
I’m gonna get back to the fun soon. Technically, I’m kinda working here — selling tickets to our mini-conference in three days — but it’s the most fun work of my life. Basically everyone I’ve spoken with here has been fascinated by our project in Berlín.
Seriously… the list of compliments I’ve received, today alone, are too embarrasingly kind for me to even type. You wouldn’t believe me.
I only briefly stepped away from the real life engagement to bang out this newsletter for you, dear readers, because this list of updates is too ridiculously surreal to delay.
But first…
This is worth briefly emphasizing.
I’ve written many times about James Clear (Atomic Habits) and the “tidal wave of previous effort” concept.
EVERYTHING here in this post — all of the ridiculous winning — is the result of MONTHS and even YEARS planting seeds behind the scenes.
It’s hard to express how fulfilling it is to see them sprouting now with such beautiful results.
Topic 1: Bitcoin Week
I could explain what this is myself here…
But why duplicate that effort? Forbes — yes, FORBES — already published an excellent article about it anyway!
“El Salvador Welcomes The Bitcoin Week Pilgrimage”
Check out the ending…
But I’m just getting started with these updates.
Forbes was just the appetizer…
Here’s the ribeye steak, as far as personal updates go:
Topic 2: on stage at the Halving Party
It’s kinda funny.
I’ve only really been to one Bitcoin Conference so far. Adopting Bitcoin, back in November…
(Technically also Mi Primer Bitcoin’s “Unconference” spinoff the day before, if you count them separately)
Now though?
Today, I was a Speaker at my second major Bitcoin event.
And I’ve been organizing a third (a similar spinoff) for Monday.
Life moves fast.
That being said, I shouldn’t get arrogant. I’m letting loose and having a bit of fun with this post — less shy about taking a bit of credit than I usually am — but I should also be clear.
None of these wins were accomplished alone.
Certainly not this one!
Shoutout to (among others):
Big Sean Harris for organizing the Halving Party, bringing 500 Bitcoiners from around the world to El Salvador
Evelyn, Gerardo, and the entire Bitcoin Berlín team for actually building the Circular Economy project
Charlie Stevens, the other half of Economía Bitcoin
All of us have done our part.
“Setting the stage” for Charlie and I this morning…
Representing with pride…
I can’t wait to share the full video when it’s released!
Probably a couple of weeks from now, on the day of the actual Halving itself. I’ll let you know when it’s published.
For now… actually, no. I’ll stick to what I said earlier about NOT typing some of the feedback I got after this.
It’s been unbelievably kind.
Almost too kind…
It’s kinda funny/awkward.
I barely even speak Spanish.
My main role in the team has been to strategically amplify the launch of Berlín’s Circular Economy. Specifically by aligning incentives and network effects through podcasts, events, social media, etc to make sure the most high-leverage external “influencers” started hearing about our project.
It’s worked really well.
But it’s always been adjacent to the project itself.
I still feel weird about taking any credit for the real substance I’m promoting, when most of the actual boots-on-the-ground work has been done by other team members.
But this is what I do now.
It’s what I’ve been doing, informally, even before moving to El Salvador.
And it’s been working really well…
Including some new downstream payoff from my previous primary focus — my previous “tidal wave of previous effort” project — bringing together American Libertarians and Bitcoiners.
Which brings me to…
Topic 3: Saifedean + Dave Smith
It finally happened.
IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!!
Saifedean Ammous.
Author of the Bitcoin Standard.
On the show of an 11 time Rogan guest… Dave Smith, the world’s most influential libertarian commentator.
I haven’t watched yet.
I probably won’t watch until next week.
Too busy with my current projects here.
But I spent months pushing this connection behind the scenes… I know that Clint Russell suggested this to Dave a couple months ago, when I suggested it to Clint… and I know that Saif was interested when I proposed this crossover.
Idk what got it over the line.
I’m not THAT connected.
But I do know this. It finally happened!
22k views in less than 24 hours.
And next time, they’ll focus more on Bitcoin:
Speaking of Clint…
And something I can take more direct credit for:
Topic 4: Guy Swann on Spaces With Josie
MONTHS in the making.
I suggested it at least six or seven times to TRHL Official…
She finally agreed :)
And evidence, which makes me feel more comfortable taking some credit for once:
Josie has 625k followers by the way.
Over half a million… including Elon Musk.
Time for Guy Swann to shine!
Topic 5: also met Stacy Herbert
I’ll elaborate more another time.
But this was cool.
I finally met the legendary Volcano Blonde herself yesterday!
Topic 6: Economía Bitcoin
I won’t say much here in this post.
It starts in three days… I doubt any readers are gonna buy last minute tickets.
I’ll go back out to the Halving Party, where people were asking me in real life about it and Berlín, before I stepped away to write this update.
And man…
Guy Swann on Spaces With Josie is ALSO starting soon. I’m torn… I want to hear some of that as well, and maybe say hi for a little while in it.
I’ll just end this post now on this note:
Read the Thoreau quote at the top of this post again.
See how I’ve been living by it?
It’s possible.
Learning is only the first step.
Real change comes through action.
On that note…
Back to work now.
At a resort… lol. My life is ridiculous.
But yeah, that’s it for this week.
1000 words again. Enough rambling. Adios!
See you soon JeThoreau. It is great to read all these updates. I am thrilled so much is happening and you are living out your mission. Thanks for all you do!
