Thoreau Thursday 10: Wisdom is for Living, Not Just Thinking
The focus of this Substack, and why it is separate from "BTC Salvadoration"

My announcement of the decision to move to El Salvador garnered far more attention than expected. In fact, believe it or not, I had no real expectations — just a vague sense that some of my “fellow travelers” in the “Bitcoin Twitter” and “Liberty Twitter” communities might find the crazy adventurous decision understandable but also intriguing. It never even crossed my mind that it would go relatively viral, ending up with over 100,000 views. The impulse to announce this move, ultimately, was mostly just for myself… typing it out publicly made it feel less surreal, adding a sense of finality as I have now begun the journey down this uncommon path.
All of that being said, my upcoming move to El Salvador is not really what this particular Substack is about. “JeThoreau’s Thoughts” is for musing more generally about the application of “timeless wisdom from my favorite philosophers, economists, and other writers to guide my journey through fiat clown world toward prosperity and fulfillment.”
If that doesn’t interest you at all, feel perfectly free to unsubscribe from this Substack — seriously, no hard feelings! Regardless, the number of people who requested updates about the upcoming major move prompted me to start an entirely separate Substack:
Again though, this Substack that you’re currently reading has a less specific focus. This “Thoreau Thursday” series of short weekly posts is about applying timeless insights in general from Thoreau quotes primarily, but also the entire history of philosophy — which means “love of wisdom” — and living “according to its dictates” voluntarily and deliberately.
